Embodiment & Movement in service of presence.
“The body is the shore on the ocean of being.”
- Sufi saying
An important part of our development, our impact and our well-being is how practiced we are at experiencing the present moment. The present moment is mostly experienced through the body, therefore support and practices that gently bring us back to the body are very powerful in not only our transformational growth but also our relationship to ourselves, to others, and the ‘big body’ that we all live on.
An embodied approach in coaching may include somatic-orientated questions that gently expand your awareness of your present experience. This might be questions like What are you noticing as you talk about this? What’s present for you now? or What sensations are you noticing as you explore this? Where in your body do you notice this (thought or feeling)? or it may be an observation shared about breath, your stance, gestures or a shift change in energy. We may also discuss a body-based practice for you to explore in your own time that supports your growth and specific developmental inquiry.
In addition, and separate to coaching, I also offer embodiment and Non-Linear Movement Method® practice sessions both live online and in person in Hong Kong and as part of broader development programs. These sessions are usually 60 or 90 minutes and are open to current coaching clients, anyone interested in exploring presence and embodiment through movement, and I offer specific NLMM® sessions that support the development and well-being of fellow coaches.
An embodied approach also relates to my own continued development as a coach and a human being. That means continued exploration and a commitment to practices that support me in regulating my nervous system and in processing and integrating my life and work in a sustainable way.
